Harper led Fresno State with eight catches totaling 83 yards Saturday as the Bulldogs edged out Hawaii 28-21 at home.

Harper posted his best receiving numbers in five starts on Saturday, but failed to reach the end zone for the first time since Nov. 1 in the process. The senior closes out the regular season with 76 catches, 941 yards and seven touchdowns, but could very well eclipse the 1,000-yard receiving mark for a second-straight year with a strong showing in next week's Mountain West championship game against Boise State.

If Derek Carr hadn't gone to the NFL, Harper (6-1, 184) would be a top-3 wide receiver. The Fresno State offense attempted more than 50 passes per game last year, and with Davante Adams and Isaiah Burse off to the NFL (231 catches, 30 TD combined), Harper is a near lock to provide double-digit touchdowns this season after catching 79 passes for 1,011 yards and 13 touchdowns a season ago. But Carr's potential replacements (Brandon Connette and Brian Burrell) could lead the Fresno State offense to run more this season, which could prevent Harper's targets from increasing. Durability is also an issue as he missed 10 games the last three years.

Injury derailed Harper's 2012 season after a promising start, but there's no reason to think he won't get back into the groove this year. Few receivers in the country have been as quietly impressive in their freshman and sophomore seasons as Harper, who totaled 56 catches for 808 yards and eight touchdowns over the last 17 games, a span in which he primarily served as a backup behind the likes of Jalen Saunders and Davante Adams. Harper isn't on the level of those two, but he could still turn into a 1,000-yard player as a junior.

Harper is a good bet to break out in 2012 and emerge as a fantasy factor in most formats. He showed a good amount of big-play ability as Fresno State's third-best receiver last year, catching 32 passes for 475 yards and four touchdowns in 11 games, and his role is set to increase now that Jalen Saunders and Devon Wylie are gone. Those two combined for 106 catches last year, so Harper should make a push for 60 catches or so.
