Stave went 9-for-17 for 79 yards and an interception in Saturday's game against Minnesota.
ANALYSIS
Stave was considered questionable coming into Saturday's game after getting dinged up against Northwestern the previous week, but the veteran quarterback was under center for the regular season finale. However, Wisconsin shifted back to a run-centric approach against the Gophers, leaving Stave with few opportunities to make his mark. His 17 attempts tied a season-low for full games, and he averaged just 4.65 yards per attempt. It's clear that Wisconsin's run game is starting to click, and Stave's penchant for throwing interceptions could have something to do with that. Stave threw six interceptions over his last four games of the season, which ballooned his season total to 11 picks against just 10 touchdowns.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2014
2013
Stave started for Wisconsin in 2013, throwing for throwing 22 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. Stave is much less effective than his numbers would lead one to believe though -- he doesn't make good decisions, he has poor mobility, he has a windup throwing motion with only average velocity, and his accuracy is very unreliable. Aside from toughness and height, it's difficult to see what Stave offers, but he heads into the fall as the slight favorite to start for Wisconsin over Tanner McEvoy.
Stave was the best QB for Wisconsin in the seven games he played as a redshirt freshman in 2012 before a broken collarbone ended his season prematurely. He has a strong arm and finished the season with 1,104 yards through the air and completed multiple passes greater than 30 yards. Whereas Phillips has been considered dual-threat, Stave is purely a pocket passer. The new coaching staff has expressed interest if Stave wins the job to utilize the play-action pass that was so effective for him last season, but Wisconsin is unlikely to throw often enough for Stave to make a fantasy impact in most cases.
