Mayfield will be eligible to play through the 2017 season after Big 12 officials approved a new rule proposal Thursday that will allow walk-ons to transfer within the conference without losing a year of eligibility, ESPN.com's Jake Trotter reports.
Grier (suspension) is expected to be eligible for the start of the 2017 season, Mitch Vingle of the Charleston Gazette-Mail reports. "Will Grier enrolled for classes here at WVU on May 16. With the timing of his transfer, and the requirements that he has to finish from the NCAA, I cannot officially confirm his eligibility until the summer of 2017. However, I fully anticipate him being eligible for the opening game of the 2017 season," said head coach Dana Holgorson.
Head coach Art Briles confirmed Saturday that Chafin (suspension) will return to the team in the fall, Craig Smoak of ESPN 1660 in Waco reports. "He'll ba back next fall. He'll serve his suspension," said Briles.
