Thornton was given only a peripheral role in the Arkansas State offense in 2011, receiving just 19 carries, but his average of 6.3 yards per carry really stood out in an offense that otherwise had no running back average better than 4.0 yards per rush. Frankie Jackson looks like Arkansas State's top back heading into 2012, but Thornton's explosiveness makes him a curious case to monitor if he ends up with the bigger workload between the two.
