Smith was quietly one of the top non-AQ wideouts in 2013, finishing his junior season with 50 catches for 940 yards (18.8 YPC) and six touchdowns while regularly burning his Sun Belt competition deep in a run-heavy South Alabama offense. The way he ended his season gave reason to hope for an even more emphatic breakout season in 2014, as he posted 40 catches for 759 yards (19.0 YPC) and five scores in the final nine games, which projects to about 1,012 yards and seven touchdowns over 12 games.
