Browning is almost all of the Monroe offense and is therefore a slight injury concern after running the ball 146 times in 12 games last year, but Browning was a great fantasy asset while he stayed healthy in 2012. In addition to the big rushing workload, which netted Browning 488 yards and seven touchdowns, he threw 35.7 passes per game while piling up 3,049 yards and 29 touchdowns through the air. While Browning brings back almost all of his offensive line and a standout pair of receivers in Je'Ron Hamm and Tavarese Maye, he could struggle with three road games against BCS opponents in the first four weeks of the year, and Ohio seemed to show everyone the blueprint for shutting down the Monroe offense as the Bobcats pummeled Monroe 45-14 in the bowl game between the two.
Browning wasn't so good as a passer last year, averaging just 5.9 yards per attempt, but he has emerged as a good runner and is an intriguing fantasy option as a result. He ran for 443 yards (3.1 YPC) and five touchdowns last year, so if he could just slightly improve his passing efficiency he would be fantasy-relevant in all scenarios, because he averaged 34.9 passes and 11.9 rush attempts per game last year, and that's a huge workload.
Monroe has to be pleased with Browning's showing as a redshirt freshman last year. Despite facing three SEC opponents, including a brutal LSU defense, Browning still finished with 22 total touchdowns compared to 12 interceptions. The dual-threat will start again in 2011.
Browning is a complete unknown with a good chance of starting in 2010 due to a lack of other options on the team. The three-star recruit has very good athleticism and should be able to make plays with his feet if he struggles as a passer.
