Head coach Neil Callaway has not addressed the possibility of Shed (knee) returning this week as the Blazers prepare to take on Houston, but notable is the fact Shed is not listed on the Oct. 29 team depth chart included in the Blazers' weekly game notes, Yahoo Sports reports.

ANALYSIS
In place of Shed, freshman Darrin Reaves has seen the bulk of the carries out of UAB's backfield, with Reaves taking 11 touches for 55 yards and a touchdown last week against Marshall.

Shed only ran for three touchdowns last year so he isn't much of a scoring threat, but he's one of the nation's best pass-catching running backs and does a good job of piling up yardage. He finished last year with 1,318 yards from scrimmage, and he’ll be in a good position to improve in 2011. His workload increased as last year progressed, so he should get more work in 2011 than he did last year.

The UAB offense doesn't leave much work for the running backs because the quarterbacks typically do all the running. But Shed might force the team to find some room for him after dominating in spring practices. He hasn't played at the Division I level yet so he remains a complete unknown, but he might emerge as the best running back option for UAB. That isn't necessarily saying much in the fantasy world.
