Louisville: Teddy Bridgewater Off To The NFL
January 1, 2014
Bridgewater will forgo his senior season to enter the 2014 NFL Draft, ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
This was pretty much expected so it's not like Bridgewater had a New Year's epiphany and decided to give the pro game a whirl. The real question is whether the Texans will make him the top overall pick or look elsewhere, though Bridgewater may be the early favorite considering how awful Houston's quarterbacking was this season. Bridgewater will finish his fine three-year career at Louisville with a win in the Russell Athletic Bowl and a senior season with with 3,970 passing yards, 31 touchdowns vs. four interceptions, and a 171.1 passer rating. Houston, you're on the clock.

Past Fantasy Outlooks

2011
Bridgewater lacks the rushing production of the other players who have been on the list to this point, but Louisville should call more pass plays than usual this year as it attempts to play up Bridgewater as a Heisman candidate. That's particularly true given that the general assumption is that Bridgewater will head to the NFL as a top-10 pick after this year. Bridgewater could average three passing touchdowns per game this year with the highly talented wideout group of DeVante Parker, Eli Rogers, Michaelee Harris and Damian Copeland, and his schedule is extremely easy.
Bridgewater looks like a talented player for Louisville with a bright future, but he won't be much of a fantasy option outside of Big East-only leagues unless the Louisville offense becomes a bit more aggressive in the passing game, as the team averaged just 29.3 passes per contest last year. If it does become more pass-happy, though, the Louisville offense could yield sizeable numbers through the air, as Bridgewater has a very talented group of receivers in DeVante Parker, Eli Rogers and Michaelee Harris.
Bridgewater is a huge recruit for Louisville, so while Will Stein has a big edge on him in regards to experience, fans will no doubt be hoping to see Bridgewater sooner rather than later. His fantasy utility is up in the air until he shows he can play at the college level, however.
