February 28, 2011
Cross, a 6-0, 222-pound running back for North Hall High School in Gainsville, Georgia, has provided the University of Tennessee with its first commitment for the Class of 2012, ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
As a junior, Cross rushed for 580 yards and 17 touchdowns in only five games, and this after missing the first five contest of the season due to an Achilles tendon injury. "They want a power back," ESPN.com quotes Cross as telling VolQuest.com. "They want someone who can grind it out in the SEC. They want someone who is reliable towards the end of the game that can get the tough yards." Looks like the Vols now have someone who can take over for Tauren Poole after the rising senior graduates in 2012.
