Past Fantasy Outlooks
2015
2014
Johnson is back for another try after suffering a season-ending hip injury in the opener last year, cutting short a promising campaign. He exited spring as the clear starter for Bowling Green, which was expected, considering he scored 30 touchdowns as a first-year starting sophomore in 2013. Johnson takes over a Bowling Green offense that attempted 39.1 passes per game last year, and he even has a bit of dual-threat ability. In addition to a pass-happy scheme, Johnson has strong receivers led by star sophomore Roger Lewis.
Johnson took the Bowling Green program to the next level last year, throwing for 3,467 yards (9.4 YPA) and 25 touchdowns, adding 238 yards and five touchdowns on the ground. He could be even more productive this season, as Bowling Green hired Dino Babers (Eastern Illinois) as its new head coach. Babers turned Jimmy Garoppolo into an extremely productive quarterback at the FCS level, implementing a high-tempo, pass-heavy scheme. Johnson has the support of a strong running game and a balanced WR rotation featuring a shifty big-play threat in Ronnie Moore as well as 6-3 red-zone threats Gehrig Dieter and Chris Gallon.
