January 4, 2016
Elliott will enter the 2016 NFL Draft.
ANALYSIS
Elliott's Ohio State career was nothing less than legendary, and he was arguably the most important player on a team that went from underdog to an unstoppable machine in the 2014 College Football Playoffs. He ran for 696 yards (9.2 YPC) and eight touchdowns while pummeling Wisconsin, Alabama and Oregon that year, and he finished the 2015 season in a similarly dominant fashion by torching Michigan and Notre Dame for a combined 363 yards (6.4 YPC) and six touchdowns. At 220 pounds with good pass-blocking tape, Elliott safely projects as a three-down back in the NFL, which gives him especially good dynasty upside. Pre-draft workouts will go a long way in determining Elliott's exact draft placement, but a spot in the first round seems highly plausible. Elliott showed very good vision at Ohio State, and his combination of leg drive and high motor allows him to pose a major big-play threat even if his speed isn't quite in 'burning' territory. Elliott looks like he could be another Corey Dillon.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2015
2014
The betting favorite for the Heisman Trophy, Elliott's likely to be overpriced in drafts. Elliot is an elite talent in what should be the nation's best offense, but the Buckeyes have so many playmakers they don't need to consistently lean on him. Elliott did not have more than 12 carries until his fourth game last year, and in six games he saw 13 or fewer rushes. He's a safe bet for big numbers when Ohio State plays a formidable opponent, but there are surprisingly few on the schedule. The Buckeyes likely will be at least 14-point favorites in eight games this year, so predicting Elliot's biggest games might be more difficult than assumed.
Carlos Hyde is off to the NFL, leaving a big opportunity at RB in Ohio State's prolific, Braxton Miller-led offense. Warren Ball and Bri'onte Dunn are around to vulture carries, but Elliott appears next in line to start at RB and earn at least 200 carries – Hyde had 208 last season and fellow graduate Jordan Hall had 81. A top recruit last year, Elliot is 6-0, 225, with the speed necessary to pull away from defenses. And after totaling 262 yards (8.7 YPC) and two scores on 30 carries in 2013, Elliott has solid upside this season.
