Past Fantasy Outlooks

2010
Injuries and inconsistency derailed Crist's career at Notre Dame, but he'll get one last chance with Kansas in 2012. As a former five-star recruit with rushing ability on a team with a bad defense, Crist makes for an intriguing fantasy prospect this year. His lack of proven production makes him a risky investment, but his upside makes him a justifiable one in most scenarios as he reunites with head coach Charlie Weis.
Crist isn’t guaranteed to start in 2011, but it’d generally be surprising if he didn’t. He threw for 2,033 yards and 15 touchdowns in eight games last year, his first in head coach Brian Kelly's system. He also provided a nice boost to his fantasy numbers with 74 yards and four touchdowns on the ground. Michael Floyd and Theo Riddick are a very good wideout combo, so Crist should be in position to succeed in 2011.
Crist is set to take over in the place of Jimmy Clausen, and the former major recruit has huge expectations to meet this year. Brian Kelly's bringing a new offense over, and it should be favorable to Crist's numbers. But then there's the issue of how competent Crist is as a player. Crist completed just 10-of-20 passes last year for 130 yards, one touchdown and one interception. He'll have to be much better than that in 2010, but the presence of wideout Michael Floyd and tight end Kyle Rudolph as well as Kelly's superb history with quarterbacks means Crist should be a good fantasy option this year and has high upside.
