Smith is no stranger to trouble, as he was charged with intent to distribute ecstasy back in 2006. It certainly was an odd offense--a kid driving a Mercedes and getting allowance from FedEx founder and CEO Fred Smith shouldn't need that sort of income. This new offense seems to have resulted from Smith refusing to pay a taxi fare, at which point he became combative. Given that Smith has proven to be ineffective on the field, it might be difficult for the Memphis program to stand by him any longer.
