Utah: Jordan Wynn Quits Football
Shoulder
September 10, 2012
Wynn has decided to quit football after his latest shoulder injury, ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
It's not clear whether the current injury would be season-ending, but if it is it would be Wynn's third season-ending shoulder injury. Jon Hays and Travis Wilson will compete for the starting role now, with the latter possessing much more fantasy upside thanks to his running skills.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2012
2011
2010
Wynn missed most of last year due to a shoulder injury, but he's reportedly looking good as the 2012 season approaches. When healthy, Wynn has proved to be a decent quarterback, as evidenced by his 17-touchdown, 10-interception sophomore season in 2010. His upside is a bit limited, though, as the Utah offense is traditionally a bit run-heavy. In an offense that's less about him than John White, Wynn could struggle to be relevant in leagues that aren't Pac-12-only.
With about 1.5 years of starting experience heading into his junior year, Wynn is in good shape to post some good numbers in 2011. Despite the loss of its top two runners and wideout Jereme Brooks, Utah brought in a lot of (albeit unproven) talent at running back, and wideout DeVonte Christopher looks capable of producing sufficiently in the top receiver role. Look for Wynn to push for 3,000 yards and 25 touchdowns as a passer.
Wynn seems to be the favorite to lead Utah in 2010 despite failing to outperform his competition in 2009, Terrance Cain. Wynn was a freshman, however, so the program is clearly hoping an investment in Wynn last year and in 2010 will mean a higher return than what going with the short-term productivity Cain would provide. Wynn threw eight touchdowns and four interceptions while averaging a respectable 7.4 yards per attempt as a rookie. He should be similarly efficient in 2010 with a brilliant running game keeping him safe, though the presence of Cain means Wynn needs to avoid any disastrous performances. His fantasy value is limited, in any case, because Utah won't lean too heavily on the passing game this year. He's not worth consideration outside of MWC-only leagues.
