Allen signed with the Cowboys on Friday so that he may retire with the team, the Dallas Morning News reports.

ANALYSIS
Allen played in Dallas from 1994 to 2005, earning 10 Pro Bowl selections. Guard Adam Stenavich was released in order to make room for the veteran.

Allen started the year banged up, out of shape and in Bill Parcells' doghouse, but by the end of 2003 he was a close approximation of his all-world self. The Cowboys toyed with the idea of severing ties with Allen in the off-season, but in the end -- despite his price tag -- Jerry Jones decided he couldn't live without Allen. He can still be a force, but look for Parcells to spell Allen a little more in 2004 in an effort to keep him healthier.

2002 was a lost season for Allen due to an ankle injury. His window for returning to his Pro Bowl form is rapidly closing.
