ANALYSIS
Allen, who was limited to just three tackles in four games this past season, figures to catch on elsewhere as a depth cornerback. He's displayed some ball-hawking skills in the past, though he's been a coverage liability for the entirety of his career.

Cincinnati is deep in the secondary, especially at cornerback, but Allen figures to see playing time as a reserve anyway. With Dre Kirkpatrick's injury before camp, Allen should see more reps early on and be able to establish roles for himself in the Bengals' defensive scheme.
The Texans signed free agent cornerback Jonathan Joseph, who will start at one cornerback position. Second-year man Kareem Jackson is the front-runner for the other starting job, but Allen is pushing him in camp. At any rate, Allen will have a role, even if it's just the sub packages.
Allen will be in a battle for a spot in the secondary during training camp. If he makes the team it's unlikely as a starter and will be on the bench only playing in nickel/dime defenses or in the case of injury.
Allen was drafted before Parcells and company took over therefore could have trouble holding onto his roster spot for the 2009 season, especially with Miami selecting two cornerbacks in the 2009 draft.
After playing sparingly the first half of 2007, Allen proved his worth playing conerback and safety for the Dolphins last season. He will be Miami's starting free safety entering training camp and should hold IDP value this season.
As of April minicamp, Allen will play exclusively at cornerback until further notice after having played safety in the specialty packages in 2006. Allen has the athleticism to succeed at cornerback, but he won't have much value until he can break the starting lineup. This could come sooner rather than later if the injury woes of the Dolphins' secondary in 2006 continue in 2007.
Allen was the best defensive back in the SEC prior to dislocating his hip last season. He has the speed and coverage skills to help immediately at safety, but his holdout at the start of 2006 training camp could delay him taking the starting role that he is expected to earn.
