Whomever among Dorsey, Aaron Brown and Maurice Morris makes the roster will be the No. 3 back. Morris is thought to have the advantage presently, but there's still two preseason games on the schedule for the Lions' coaching staff to make up their mind.

The Lions have plenty of superior options at backup running back, so Dorsey will either have to contribute on special teams or play his way into the third running back spot during the preseason.

Among those competing for a backup job, Dorsey will have to make the team by excelling on special teams.

Dorsey has a tough row to hoe to make the team this training camp - he's fourth on the tailback depth chart and could potentially be fifth, pending the availability of Kenny Irons. His special teams prowess could be the one thing that saves a roster spot for him.

The pride of Lindenwood University, Dorsey sits second on the Colts running back depth chart. If he wins the backup job this spring, he'd have value as a handcuff/lottery ticket. And there's event talk the Colts may stick with a two-back system and give the No. 2 back regular carries. Still, it's hard to believe that if Joseph Addai were to get hurt, the Colts would likely look for outside help.
