Leonard is a 30 year old back who currently is looking for a job after playing in Tampa Bay and Cincinnati. His greatest asset is his hands as he has recorded at least 20 catches in four of the last five seasons. However, he's not a very good rusher and provides little value for a team looking for depth at the position.
Leonard will be the backup to Doug Martin in Tampa Bay.
Leonard will be a back up running back for the Bengals this season, but should contribute most out of the backfield as a receiver. Expect 20-30 catches from Leonard this season.
Leonard typically is the Bengals' third-down back and doesn't really have the speed to be an every-down back. However, he's a good blocker and a good receiver, so his roster spot isn't in jeopardy.
Leonard, who as limited by injuries last year, playing in only two games with seven yards on two carries, will have a chance to compete for the No. 2 RB job behind Cedric Benson and could turn into a sleeper if he wins it.
Leonard is practically a lock to be the club's starting FB in 2008. Unfortunately Scott Linehan's offense treats the FB more like an extra O-lineman and not a ball carrier so don't expect any significant rushing or TD numbers from Leonard.
Leonard was drafted with the 52nd pick to take some of the load off Steven Jackson this year. He played some fullback in college but is fast enough for tailback in the NFL. He’s also a solid receiver out of the backfield and should immediately become second on the Rams depth chart. He’s a deep sleeper for fantasy purposes.
