As it stands in the summer, Booty is Houston's third-string quarterback and that's expected to be his role all season long.

Booty is currently in an open competition with Sage Rosenfels and Tavaris Jackson to determine who will start and how the depth chart will shake out. Booty may be the one stuck as the third-string quarterback as the other two have actual game experience. Either way he will continue to develop and learn the NFL game, most likely as a backup.

With Tarvaris Jackson slated as the starter and Gus Frerotte in line to back him up, Booty has the definite upper hand to beat out Brooks Bollinger for Minnesota No. 3 quarterback. He could eventually be seen as a starter for the Vikings, although it's tough to imagine that scenario developing in his rookie campaign.
