August 16, 2016
Lissemore was placed on injured reserve Monday after suffering a shoulder injury, Tom Krasovic of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
ANALYSIS
Lissemore was looking to rebound from a poor 2015 in which he managed to play in just 11 games, tallying 16 tackles. While the 28-year-old was not expected to start this season, the injury will tax the Chargers' depth along the defensive line, forcing unheralded players such as Ryan Carrethers or Chuka Ndulue to receive additional snaps on the defensive front.

Lissemore has been solid as the starting nose tackle in San Diego since being acquired via trade in 2013. He has averaged 26 tackles per season in that time, but he does a lot of the dirty work clogging up multiple blockers in the middle of the line while others make plays.
With the departure of Cam Thomas, Lissemore is poised to open the season as the starting nose tackle. In part-time duty with the Bolts last year, Lissemore made 24 total tackles and two sacks, but he figures to improve on those numbers as a starter.
Lissemore managed 35 tackles and a sack in 10 games as an undersized NT last year, but the Cowboys' switch to a 4-3 defense could allow him to be more disruptive.
Intense, high-motor player had two sacks and 28 tackles last year, impressive numbers given his limited snaps off the bench, and should play a much larger role this season filling in all over the Cowboys' defensive front.
Undersized but high-motor DT is still mainly a special teams contributor.
Late round pick is undersized but has an excellent motor, and the Cowboys hope that playing behind Jay Ratliff (who has a similar profile) will allow him to develop into a useful player.
