Baltimore cut Allen on Friday, Baltimore Sun writer Aaron Wilson reports.
ANALYSIS
Allen averaged only 3.8 yards per carry on 16 rush attempts last year, and his departure from Baltimore was hastened by the trade for Delone Carter, who will battle Bobby Rainey for the No. 3 RB role in Baltimore. Allen could catch on elsewhere as a special teamer, but he isn't particularly intriguing as a running back.

Allen was cut by Baltimore in August of 2013. Allen served as the Ravens' No. 3 running back in 2011 and 2012. His best attribute is performance on special teams. Last year he was cut then picked up by Baltimore - maybe he'll have the same luck this year.
Allen was the Ravens' No. 3 running back in 2011, behind Ray Rice and Ricky Williams. Now that Williams is out of the picture he will compete with Damien Berry, Bernard Pierce, and Bobby Rainey to serve as Rice's backup. If Allen doesn't win that competition he may not make the final roster.
The Ravens selected Allen with the 225th pick of the draft. He’s untested as a pass catcher and played in Georgia Tech's triple-option, but he still has the look of a potentially good runner in the NFL. With Willis McGahee now in Denver and despite not getting drafted until the seventh round, Allen could immediately become Baltimore’s goal-line back. He’ll enter camp battling for the team’s RB2 role behind Ray Rice.
