Givens was released by the Eagles on Sunday, Rand Getlin of NFL.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Givens struggled to make much of an impact with the Eagles' wide receiving core during the preseason, catching just one pass for 19 yards. He'll head to the open free-agent market and could see some interest from a wide receiver-needy team. The 26-year-old is coming off a 2015 campaign split between the Rams and Ravens, where he combined to record 20 receptions for 353 yards and one touchdown over 15 games.

Givens, who was reunited with Eagles starting quarterback Sam Bradford after the duo had a solid connection in 2012 during Givens' rookie season in St. Louis, was let go by Philadelphia in August.
After averaging 38 catches and more than 600 yards his first two seasons in the league, Givens dropped like a rock on St. Louis’ 2014 depth chart . While he offer enough speed to make him a deep ball threat, the former Wake Forest wideout only caught 11 passes for 159 yards and a touchdown all of last season. Givens may get an occasional look in four- or five-wide sets, but won't be much of an option in the Rams' offense in 2015 barring injuries.
Quarterback problems were partly to blame, but after a promising rookie season, Givens cratered in Year 2. While the speedy Givens averaged 16.7 YPC, a mark right in line with his 2012 average, he caught only 41 percent of the balls thrown his way, dead last among the league’s 56 80-target receivers. In his defense, Givens had only two drops, so at least some of the inefficiency and low per-target output (6.9 YPT) has to be on the Sam Bradford/Kellen Clemens combo. At 6-0, 203 and with blazing 4.35 40 speed, Givens is the team’s primary deep threat, though he had only one catch of 40-plus last year (five in 2012). With Bradford injured again and Shaun Hill helming the offense, Givens will have to vie for targets with last year’s No. 8 overall pick, Tavon Austin, Brian Quick and newcomer Kenny Britt.
Taken in the fourth round last year, Givens outshined his more heralded teammate Brian Quick by a fair margin. At 5-11, 198, Givens has only average size, but he torched defenses for five catches of 40 or more yards – the same number as Calvin Johnson – on 124 fewer targets. Givens wound up with 8.7 YPA and 16.6 YPC, highly efficient production for a rookie on a team not known for its passing. This year, Givens is expected to play alongside Quick with rookie Tavon Austin lining up all over the field. There's breakout potential here, depending on how Sam Bradford develops in a rapidly improving offensive environment.
Givens is not likely to break the starting line-up in his rookie season but he does have enough talent and straight line speed to compete for the fourth spot on the club's wide receiver depth chart. Our gut feeling is that he'll end up lower than that to start the year but is likely to climb higher as he gets more experience.
