RotoWire High Stakes Auction League Rules

Click here for the High Stakes Auction League home page

1. The RotoWire High Stakes Auction League (HSAL) and the RotoWire High Stakes Auction League 2 (HSAL2) will consist of 14 teams/managers. The season will extend from Week 1 of the NFL regular season through Week 16 of the regular season. Teams will compete in a head-to-head format with one game against each of the other 13 teams. After 13 weeks, the six teams with the best winning percentage will advance to the playoffs (the top two teams will receive byes). Tiebreakers for the playoffs will be, in order: total points, head-to-head, coin flip.

2. Entry Requirements: The cost to enter a team into the HSAL is $1,500 per team. The cost to enter a team into the HSAL2 is $500 per team. An individual can only have one team in each league. All entries must be paid for before you are allowed to enter the auction. You can pay for your entry by using the online payment option provided or by calling 888-201-3057 and giving a credit card number over the phone.

If you prefer to pay by check, you may do so by sending the check to:
Roto Sports, Inc.
210 N. Bassett St.
Suite 230
Madison, WI 53703

Make your check payable to Roto Sports, Inc.
Please put HSAL and your team name on the check.

3. Eligibility: The Contest is open to individuals who have reached legal age in their respective jurisdiction. Individuals who have not reached legal age in their respective jurisdiction can enter only with permission of a parent or legal guardian. Void where prohibited by law. Roto Sports, Inc. employees are ineligible to participate or win prizes.

4. Roster Requirements: Each HSAL team will consist of 18 players.

There are 10 active lineup spots, which are:
- 1 QB
- 2 RB
- 3 WR
- 1 TE
- 1 Flex (RB, WR or TE)
- 1 K
- 1 D/ST

Each team may have up to eight reserves. There will be no "injured reserve" slot.

5. Scoring: Players will score points in the following manner:

Passing
Passing Yards divided by 20 (ex: 245 passing yards equals 12.25 fantasy points)
4 points per passing touchdown
Minus-1 point per interception
2 points per passing two-point conversion

Rushing
Rushing yards divided by 10 (ex: 128 rushing yards equals 12.80 fantasy points)
6 points per rushing touchdown
2 points per rushing two-point conversion

Receiving
Receiving yards divided by 10 (ex: 75 receiving yards equals 7.5 fantasy points)
6 points per receiving touchdown
2 points per receiving two-point conversion

Miscellaneous
6 points per return, fumble recovery or lateral touchdown

Placekicking
1 point per extra point
3 points per field goal 40 yards or under
4 points per field goal over 40 yards

D/ST
1 point per sack
2 points per fumble recovery or interception
6 points per return touchdown (includes interception return, fumble return, punt or kickoff return, blocked FG return, missed FG return, blocked punt return)
2 points per safety
8 points per shutout
6 points for allowing between 2-10 points
4 points for allowing between 11-20 points

*SPECIAL PLAYOFF SCORING* During the postseason, the team with the higher seed will receive a "home field advantage" bonus of five points.

6. Auction: Each team will begin with $180 to fill the 18-man roster. Bids will increase in whole dollar increments.

A random "nomination" order will be generated prior to the auction. The owner with the first nomination will begin by placing a bid on a player, which will then begin the bidding. After bidding for that player has concluded, the second owner will make an opening bid on the next player, and so on.

Once a team's roster is full, that team will be removed from the nomination order.

All picks placed through the RotoWire Commissioner on auction night are final. Mistakes cannot be undone and refunds will not be given for mistakes.

It is your responsibility to create a team with enough players to fill an active lineup.

7. Lineups: A player's active/reserve status may be changed up to five minutes before kickoff for that player's game. For example, Week 1 of the NFL season features a Thursday night game. Players who play in that game must be set as active or reserve no later than five minutes before kickoff. However, players who do not play until Sunday or Monday can be added or removed from the lineup until five minutes before their respective kickoffs. If there are any technical problems that prevent you from making lineup changes during the season, please contact RotoWire support at highstakes@rotowire.com with your lineup changes. Emails from an address other than your listed email address will not be accepted (to prevent tampering). The timestamp of your email must be before the lineup deadline for your lineup changes to be accepted. If you are having technical problems that prevent you from emailing your changes, you can make your lineup changes over the phone by calling 608-310-4278 (will require password verification).

8. Free Agents: Free agent requests will be processed via e-mail using a FAAB (free agent acquisition budget) system. Each owner has $100 FAAB dollars for the entire season. Bids will be made in whole dollar increments, the minimum bid being $1 on a player. The winning bidder will pay his or her full bid amount. Bids need to be sent to RotoWire support at highstakes@rotowire.com. Emails from an address other than your listed email address will not be accepted (to prevent tampering). In case of a tie, the player will be awarded to the team with the lower winning percentage. If the teams with the tie bids are tied in the standings, the team with fewer total points will be awarded the player. In the free agent request email, you must indicate which player on your team will be released if you win a free agent. The released player will be available in the free agent pool the following week. Any free agent that is picked up is added to a team in a reserve status. It is the responsibility of the team owner to activate any picked up free agents.

The first deadline to submit free agent requests will be Wednesdays at 6:00pm PT. In case of tie bids for the first free agent request period, the player will be awarded to the team who was later in the auction nomination order. Each week free agent pickups will be processed on Wednesday night. You will receive an email on Wednesday night indicating whether you won a player.

Following the Wednesday bids, add/drops can be made until 5:00pm PT on Saturday night. These will be made on a first-come, first-serve basis - also via email. Each of these transactions will cost $1 from the team's FAAB balance. Players dropped during the Wednesday bidding process and during the ensuing add/drops will not be available until the following week. (***Once Thursday and Saturday NFL games begin later in the season, these add/drops can still be made until 5:00pm PT on Saturday night, but not for the players whose games have already begun.***) If you are having technical problems that prevent you from emailing your free agent requests, you can make your requests over the phone by calling 608-310-4278 (will require password verification).

9. Trades: To prevent collusion, there are no trades in the HSAL.

10. Stat Corrections: On rare occasions, our stats provider, or the National Football League, will make stat corrections in the days following a game. We will incorporate these corrections into the HSAL standings.

11. Prizes: At the end of the season, prizes will be awarded as follows, assuming 14 owners. If for some reason less than 14 owners are part of the league, first through third place will be awarded the prizes below.
