Stewart is almost certain to retain his starting job for the Lions, as Detroit didn't attack the RB market in the first part of the offseason, and they took only one back in the draft (fourth-round pick Artose Pinner, who's coming off a broken leg and not expected to do much for 2003). But new head coach Steve Mariucci hasn't endorsed Stewart as a long-term solution, either. The ideal fit for a West Coast offense would be a quicker, faster back, so we get the idea Stewart might be a short-term solution in Detroit, not a long-term one. Keep an eye on this situation in training camp.
