Brandon Browner: Past News Updates ( ▲ View most recent update )
Exclusive Fantasy Analysis (FREE PREVIEW)Browner was originally suspended for his second violation of the league's substance abuse policy on Dec. 18, but definitely didn't see eye to eye with commissioner Roger Goodell regarding the length of the suspension. After threats of legal action ensued, Browner and the league were eventually able to come to terms on a reinstatement. The free agent will now look to catch on elsewhere, with hopes that he can return to his 2011 Pro Bowl form.
Exclusive Fantasy Analysis (FREE PREVIEW)Browner's appeal was denied Wednesday, and he was suspended "indefinitely." Browner, who has been out with a hamstring injury since Week 11, can apply for reinstatement after his suspension, but by then he will not have played in more than a year. Browner is done as a Seahawk, which he acknowledged Wednesday through Twitter, and could be done in the NFL. "We will continue to exhaust all administrative remedies," Browner's agent, Peter Schaffer, said. "If not successful, we will sue the living daylights out of the league."
Exclusive Fantasy Analysis (FREE PREVIEW)Not only will Browner be unavailable for the Seahawks' upcoming playoff run and a large majority of the 2014 season, he may not ever play another down in the NFL. After he finishes serving the suspension, he would have to apply for reinstatement into the league. There's no guarantee the NFL would accept Browner in light of his status as a repeat offender of the league's drug policy and his refusal to simply accept both of his suspensions rather than appeal.
Exclusive Fantasy Analysis (FREE PREVIEW)Browner was expected to miss several more weeks due to a fairly serious groin injury but is an excellent corner when healthy. With fellow corner Walter Thurmond also out on suspension, a strong Seahawks squad suddenly has some issues for the stretch run and into the playoffs. For what it's worth, several sources have claimed that Browner is denying it's a second PED violation, but regardless of the violation, it looks like he'll be off the field for the foreseeable future. With his contract up at the end of the season, Browner may have played his last game for Seattle.
RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks
Browner is an odd story, and an even stranger sight. The former CFL product was a 16-game starter for the Seahawks last year – his first with the team and first in the NFL since he was an undrafted rookie in 2005 and spent that entire year on the IR – and he looks more like a linebacker than a cornerback at 6-4, 221. He was quite a playmaker for the Seahawks, complementing a lackluster tackle total (54) with six interceptions, two of which he took back for touchdowns, and 23 passes defended.
