Past Fantasy Outlooks
2004
2003
Stewart signed a one-year contract with the Ravens in June. With Anthony Wright hurt, he will go into the season as Kyle Boller’s backup. If Boller struggles or gets hurt, Stewart, always capable of putting up points with his legs, still has a hint of upside.
Stewart's fantasy value will ultimately depend on how much he's able (or allowed) to use his running skills. While he isn't again going to score 11 times on the ground like he did in 1997, he can be safely projected to pick up 350 to 500 rushing yards and anywhere from 2 to 5 touchdowns. The Steelers grew frustrated with Stewart's “run first, ask questions later” style over the years and stubbornly tried to make him a pocket passer more than once. But perhaps the Bears will let Slash run free again. Head coach Dick Jauron insisted this spring that the Bears plan to consider “every running play designed for a quarterback” as they piece together their offense for 2003.
