ANALYSIS
Skelton has spent the past month backing up Ryan Fitzpatrick, but it seems the Titans are content with the tandem of Rusty Smith and Tyler Wilson behind Fitzpatrick for the final two games. For his career, Skelton owns a 53.2 completion percentage and a 15:25 TD:INT ratio.

2010
Skelton threw for 1,913 yards, 11 touchdowns, 14 interceptions, and a 54.9 completion percentage in eight games last season. He added 28 rushes for 128 yards, no scores, and three fumbles. Despite his unimpressive stats, Skelton led the Cards to a surprising 6-2 record when he was behind center, keeping the team in playoff contention until the final weeks of the season. In any case Skelton's performance was enough to set up a preseason battle between him and Kevin Kolb for the team's 2012 starting assignment. If Skelton can claim the job, he'll still have superb wideout Larry Fitzgerald to throw to and the Cards used a first-round pick in promising wideout Michael Floyd, as well. They also plan to utilize their tight ends more, which could lead to more red zone passing touchdowns. The Cards have invested plenty in Kolb, but the competition is said to be an open one. Unfortunately, from a fantasy perspective a winner of this job battle may not be declared until well into August, as neither quarterback has distinguished himself so far this offseason.
Of the debacle that was the Cards' 2010 quarterback class, Skelton is the only signal-caller who can be certain of a roster spot heading into 2011. While Skelton struggled mightily, he managed a few victories down the stretch and appeared to develop a solid rapport with receiver Andre Roberts. Nevertheless, the team traded for Kevin Kolb and gave him a contract extension with more than $20 million in guaranteed money, which means Skelton is no where close to starting in 2011.
Skelton has a great deal of upside, but his game is evidently very raw. He's a comparable athlete to Ben Roethlisberger, though it remains to be seen whether he can learn to play the game half as well as he does. This is a good pick for a Cardinals team that needs a future quarterback option besides Matt Leinart. Skelton should be able to earn the No. 3 QB job this summer by outplaying BYU's Max Hall.
