This wasn't unexpected given all of Hall's problems staying on the field. Shaun Suisham, who filled in for Hall last season, is now penciled in as the Redskins' placekicker.

The Redskins, whose offense scored 16 more TDs in 2005 than the previous year, should be a good job for a kicker – one who can stay healthy, that is. Hall has missed 14 games over the last two seasons (quad, groin), which is a lot for a kicker. And even if he were healthy, we’re scared by his career 74.3-percent conversion rate. It’s troublesome that he hasn’t improved his accuracy during his nine-year career. Hall has converted more than 80 percent of his attempts in just two of those nine years.
Hall missed eight games last season because of muscle pulls, so the Redskins signed Jeff Chandler as insurance. With a career 73.7 accuracy rate, Hall needs PATs to give him fantasy value. Typical of kickers under 80 percent, Hall is good on kickoffs (11 touchbacks in 2003). He’s kicked above 80 percent just once in his eight seasons. Washington ranked 31st in scoring last year and made offseason moves to improve the league’s 29th-ranked passing offense.
In seven seasons, Hall is averaging 107.6 points (6.8 ppg) despite hitting just 73.7 percent. He’s managed to be on teams that give him enough FGA. His eight misses last season don’t look so bad when you see that he hit 4 of 7 from 50-plus (13-for-26 career). New coach Joe Gibbs will bring back the ball control offense with Clinton Portis. There should be improvement on offense, and Hall could get swept up in that.
Hall signed a five-year, $7.13 million deal with the Redskins. He's hit just 73 percent of his career field goal attempts, but represents stability for a team that watched three kickers stumble their way to a total of 81 points last year. His value is linked to the offense's prospective improvement in coach Steve Spurrier's second season. We certainly expect more than the 25 field goal attempts from Redskin kickers in 2002. Getting out the windy Meadowlands will help, but Hall is a second-tier kicker.
