Fiedler (shoulder) still has not taken a snap in practice, and although the Bucs are hopeful he can play soon, there's still no timetable for his return, the Tampa Tribune reports.

Fiedler (shoulder, on the physically unable to perform list) was able to work up from short to intermediate throws in his session at the Buccaneers' camp Saturday, the St. Petersburg Times reports.

"It's coming. Every day I get out here it's improving," said Fiedler, who is recovering from offseason shoulder surgery. "I took a day off (Friday). That really helped get it fresh, and I definitely took a step forward." The Bucs still hope to get Fiedler into game action before the end of the preseason. Saturday was Fiedler's most encouraging workout yet. "The next step," he said, "is uncorking it and letting it loose."
Fiedler (shoulder) looked much improved in his personal workout in the Buccaneers' camp on Monday, the Tampa Tribune reports.

Exclusive Fantasy Analysis (FREE PREVIEW)

Since Fiedler is on the physically-unable-to-perform list and is also on a personalized regimen to get his shoulder back into shape, he's not taking part in the Bucs' normal workouts in camp, but he is throwing after the rest of the team hits the showers. Fiedler still hopes to be 100 percent by the start of the season; if he's healthy, he's be the Bucs' number two quarterback behind Chris Simms. "Fiedlerís doing better. Iím really encouraged," Bucs coach Jon Gruden said.

RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks

2014

There was no outlook written for Jay Fiedler.

2006

Fiedler has shoulder surgery at the end of last season to repair a torn labrum. If he shows he's healthy, he'll start the year as the Bucs' second-string quarterback behind Chris Simms.

2005

He will be the primary back-up, and provide the team with security if he is suddenly needed in the lineup. The 33 year-old veteran is mobile, smart, and has enough experience to guide the team if his skills are required. He is a solid insurance policy if Pennington encounters an injury.

2004

Like Jason or Freddy, Fiedler seems sure to resurface in the nightmares of Dolphins fans so eager to turn the page. Fiedler makes enough plays with his legs to deserve fantasy backup consideration if (or when) he's the Miami starter.

2003

Miami is now established as a team that relies on Ricky Williams and the running game, especially in the red zone (the Dolphins ran the ball 63 percent in the red zone last year; tops in the AFC), and Fiedler is seldom asked to throw more than 25 to 30 passes per game, which makes him a marginal pick, at best, in yardage leagues. Moreover, the Dolphins signed Brian Griese in early June, and while Fiedler is still the favorite to begin the season as Miami's starter, he'll be on a lot shorter leash should he struggle early on.
