Will compete for the third wide receiver role with rookies Devin Thomas and Malcolm Floyd. He has the most experience of any 'Skins receiver in the West Coast offense, but at this stage in his career he is nothing more than a backup.
A reliable receiver who runs precise routes and has good hands. He no longer has the speed to start at wide receiver but should still see sometime in three or four wide receiver sets. He is well liked and well trusted by the Redskins staff but should not have much of an impact on offense.
Thrash's days as a productive every down wide receiver are long gone. He is currently fifth on the depth chart at wide receiver and will earn most of his playing time on special teams.
Thrash is competing for the third receiver spot in 2005. He is a veteran player with more experience than his competition, however he is not the fastest nor the biggest of the group. He will most likely make his biggest contribution on special teams.
With the Skins investing $1.5 million a year in Darnerian McCants, Thrash's role as a special teams player and fourth receiver is most likely sealed, so don't expect big things out of him stat-wise this season.
Of all the major Philadelphia wide receivers, Thrash missed Donovan McNabb the most -- he had just one touchdown catch after McNabb broke his ankle in Week 11. Nonetheless, the Eagles still found ways to involve Thrash in the offense -- he ran for 126 yards and a pair of touchdowns. And when the smoke cleared, Thrash scored eight times for the second straight year. While Thrash may not have much of an upside past this level, there's certainly nothing wrong with it. One specific caveat: Thrash tends to do most of his scoring against weaker defenses, so don't be afraid to bench him when the Eagles face a tough passing matchup.
