Starting DL for the Browns. The veteran will be relied upon to anchor a revamped team defense. One of a few high-profile free-agent signees.
Washington was a major disappointment in 2004, but is expected to start at defensive tackle this season.
The Raiders are switching to a 3-4 defense this season and Washington gives the team a big run-stuffer at nose tackle. Look for defensive coordinator Rob Ryan to rotate his defensive linemen throughout the season to keep his aging front line fresh.
Washington was injured in the second week of 2002 and lost for the season with a fractured left ankle. His absence was a big part of the reason that Chicago's defense struggled so much. If he can return to health, Washington could key a resurgence of the Bears' defense, although he is not likely to pile up a lot of fantasy stats on his own.
