Taylor will sign a contract with the Rams on Wednesday to help fill the void left by four injuries within their wide receiver ranks, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Exclusive Fantasy Analysis (FREE PREVIEW)

Taylor led the Minnesota Vikings with 57 catches for 651 yards last season, but was not offered a contract during the offseason as an unrestricted free agent. He was with the Oakland Raiders earlier this season, and spent five of his eight NFL seasons with Baltimore. He's a career underachiever but at this point the Rams can't be picky. With Torry Holt (knee), Isaac Bruce (hamstring), Drew Bennett (hamstring), Dante Hall (ankle), and Dane Looker (thigh) all hurting or out the club will take what it can get. Taylor will most likely be the fourth or fifth wide receiver come Sunday's game against Seattle.
Taylor was released by Oakland, the Associated Press reports.

Taylor agreed to a contract with the Raiders on Tuesday.

Terms were not reported. The Raiders need wide receiver depth after trading Randy Moss to New England. Taylor will compete for time with Jerry Porter and Ronald Curry.
Taylor pleaded guilty today to one count of disorderly conduct stemming from a Jan. 1 incident at a Minneapolis night club, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. He paid a $1,000 fine and must perform 48 hours of community service following an altercation with police that ended with officers using a taser gun.

Taylor was arrested early Monday morning on charges of fifth-degree assault, disorderly conduct and interfering with pedestrian or vehicular travel, according to the Associated Press. Police officers apparently had to use a taser to subdue Taylor, following an incident outside of a Minneapolis nightclub. Taylor posted $50 bail and was released on Monday morning.

Taylor, who led the Vikings with 57 receptions for 651 yards in 2006, will almost certainly see his free agency stock drop after this incident.

RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks

2014

There was no outlook written for Travis Taylor.

2008

Taylor will have a shot at earning the Panthers' No. 5 receiver spot this summer, but he might need to contribute on special teams if he's going to keep a roster spot in Carolina.

2007

Career underachiever is expected to contribute but expectations are low.

2006

Taylor led the Vikings in receptions last season and was Brad Johnson’s favorite target in the second half of the season. However, he figures to settle into a No. 3 role with Koren Robinson and Troy Williamson improving.

2005

Taylor was signed as a free agent after failing to live up to his first-round promise in Baltimore. He’s coming off his best season where he caught 61 passes for 869 yards and six touchdowns. But did Taylor under perform or just fail to have a good quarterback to throw him the ball? He’s got the size (6’2) to quickly become one of Culpepper’s favorite targets, but both he and Burleson are seen as possession receivers with limited speed. As a result, that may limit his ability to win a starting job.

2004

Taylor and Kyle Boller worked out together during the offseason in hopes of improving a passing attack that was last in the NFL in 2003. Look for Taylor to continue to improve upon a season in which he averaged 16.2 yards/catch. His fantasy value this year is higher than it's ever been.

2003

No one is going to miss Jeff Blake as much as Taylor. After doing nothing for most of the first half, Taylor clicked with Blake in the final two months and scored six times in one eight-game stretch. While it's never surprising when a talented receiver gets it together in his third season (Taylor was the 10th pick in the 2000 draft), we're not sure if Taylor will be able to maintain this success with young quarterbacks Chris Redman and Kyle Boller.
