RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks

2014

There was no outlook written for Marcus Stroud.

2010

Stroud had a productive offseason and showed up for voluntary OTAs at a svelte 300 pounds. He kind of had to lose the weight -- which appears to be about 10-15 pounds -- as Stroud will move to DE in the team's new 3-4 defense. However, it's a good sign that he looks to be in great shape after suffering from a variety of ailments in his time with the Bills. He could be a sneaky pickup this season if for some reason your league considers him a DT for drafting purposes.

2009

The Bills are happy in the value they've received in Stroud (previously an injury concern) after acquiring him in exchange for third- and fifth-round draft picks a year ago. Stroud finished the 2008 season with 45 total tackles, 2.5 sacks and seven passes defensed. That's about his IDP upside, as his main value is to the Bills in keeping the opponents' running games in check. The Bills improved slightly in 2008 (22nd) from 2007 (25th) in that regard, but with Stroud back again in 2009 and Aaron Schobel hopefully healthy, the unit has the potential to be top 10-15 against the run.

2008

Buffalo’s run defense improved the moment Stroud’s trade from Jacksonville became official. The Bills were terrible against the run last year, but Stroud’s 6-6, 310-pound frame should help disrupt things inside, freeing guys like Paul Posluszny to make plays. From an IDP standpoint, you’ll want to avoid a big interior lineman like Stroud, but his presence increases the IDP value of Posluszny and others.

2007

Stroud's on-field impact is not necessarily reflected in his statistics, as he only had 21 tackles and 2.5 sacks in 2006, albeit while battling an ankle injury. Still, teams have begun running away from him, leading to a drop in statistics and a reduction in fantasy value. He is much more valuable to a real football team than he is in fantasy.

2006

Stroud is a perennial pro-bowler and should continue to reign as one of football's top defensive tackles. He has noted that he will attempt to increase his sack total this year, after disappointing numbers last season.

2005

Stroud recorded 4.5 sacks and 80 tackles in his second straight Pro Bowl season last year in spite of a bothersome knee injury. The Jaguars rewarded their franchise defensive tackle with an extension worth 13.28 million dollars in guaranteed money money. Look for another Pro Bowl caliber year from Stroud, as he will playing on one of the strongest defensive line units in the entire league.

2004

Stroud, a 2003 Pro-Bowler, is a valuable run-stopper, but also ranked second on the team in sacks last season with 4.5.
