RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks
There was no outlook written for Marlon McCree.
McRee will battle for playing time with the Jaguars in 2009.
McCree will compete with John Lynch for playing time this year.
McCree became the leader of the secondary in his first year with the team last season. He posted 80 tackles (fifth on the team), one sack, a fumble recovery, and one interception on the year, and he will look to replicate those numbers in 2007.
McCree opens the season listed as the backup at free safety, but considering the contract that the Chargers gave him in the offseason, he is likely to find his way into the starting lineup before long. He registered a career-high 95 tackles to go along with three interceptions for Carolina in 2005. The Bolts are experimenting with several different pairs of players at the safety positions during camp, but most observers feel that McCree will end up as the leader of the unit.
McCree will backup Thomas Davis at strong safety.
The selection of cornerback Dunta Robinson in the first round of this year's draft started a domino effect that moves Marcus Coleman to free safety and McCree to a backup role. He's a battle-tested three-year and can step in at any time.
