RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks
There was no outlook written for Darwin Walker.
Walker figures to enter the mix as the Panthers' third defensive tackle, so look for him to back up Damione Lewis and Maake Kemoeatu while Ian Scott and Nick Hayden duke it out for the fourth DT spot.
It's difficult to determine Walker's status with the Bills because it appears he has no desire to ever suit up for them. If the Bills don't sign Walker by August 5, he'd be traded back to Philadelphia for a sixth-round draft choice. If he stays with the team, he will be counted on to give the Bills defensive line depth behind Larry Tripplett and Kyle Williams. He gets a decent amount of sacks for a defensive tackle, but playing for a new team (somewhere) with an unsure role, we'd look elsewhere.
Starting defensive tackle next to Mike Patterson.
With 19 sacks since 2002, Walker has been a key player in the middle of the Eagles defensive line. Not bad for a player that was claimed off waivers from Arizona on 9/12/00.
Walker will start at the right Defensive Tackle position for the Eagles. He is a proven run stopper, and the Eagles will use him to help clog the middle.
Walker made great strides as a starter in 2002 registering 7.5 sacks and being the second leading tackler on the defensive line behind Hugh Douglas. He will be fighting with Hollis Thomas for the starting spot opposite Corey Simon.
