The big defensive tackle, who will turn 38 early in the 2007 season, continues to be a valuable run-stopper. The four sacks he recorded in 14 games in 2006 were a career-high, while his tackle total of 36 was his highest since 2000. While such a performance makes him extremely valuable for the Dolphins in real life, those numbers aren't nearly good enough to warrant fantasy consideration.
Traylor, who is primarily a run-stopper, is trying to overcome bad knees at age 37. He could face competition for the starting job from second-year player Manuel Wright at some point during the season, if not during training camp.
The Pats hope that the 6-2, 340-pound Traylor can help fill the cavernous void created by the free agent loss of fellow wide-body Ted Washington.
Traylor figures to provide depth at the defensive tackle position, especially if Ted Washington returns healthy in 2003.
