RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks
There was no outlook written for Tory James.
Former Bengals' starter brought in as a depth guy at cornerback by the Patriots. Though he may have lost a step, he has plenty of experience and some ball-hawking ability and could be plugged in as a starter should injuries hit.
James is projected to be a starting cornerback, but will face challenges from 2004 2nd round pick Keiwan Ratliff and 2006 first rounder Jonathan Joseph. James is only one year removed from a Pro Bowl season, but at 33 years old will have to show that he can hold off the young horses playing behind him.
Starting at cornerback, the 2004 Pro Bowler will look to build on his career season in 2005. He should continue to be a ballhawking threat (eight interceptions in 2004), especially since the defense is expected to get more pressure on the quarterback this season.
