Musa Smith: Past News Updates   ( ▲ View most recent update )

Smith signed with the Jets on Tuesday, the NY Post reports.

Exclusive Fantasy Analysis (FREE PREVIEW)

Smith may be insurance for fullback Tony Richardson, while there's a chance he'll compete for touches with Leon Washington and Jesse Chatman this summer. Most likely, he'll just add more depth behind starter Thomas Jones. Smith's a decent pass catcher, but Washington is more of a home-run threat and even Chatman seems to have more upside.
Smith is still looking for a team, the Cardinals' official site reports.

What would normally be a brutal matchup is somewhat negated by the fact that the Steelers are playing it safe with some of their starters in Week 17.

RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks

2014

There was no outlook written for Musa Smith.

2008

Smith was cut by the Jets in August and is now on the lookout for a new job with another team.

2007

Smith often outplayed starter Jamal Lewis last year in Baltimore, albeit in an extremely small sample size. With Willis McGahee on board, Smith lost whatever chance he had to become the Ravensí feature back. Despite Mike Andersonís presence, Smith should be next in line for carries and could be on the field quite a bit on third downs. He underwent offseason neck surgery but should be healthy entering 2007.

2006

Smith missed most of last season with a knee injury and has been sidelined for most of his professional career with injuries. He's the Ravens' third running back behind two veterans in Mike Anderson and Jamal Lewis.

2005

An inability to stay healthy has long hampered Smith, both at the college and NFL level. Chester Taylor clearly has won the top backup job over Smith at this point.

2004

Smith enters the season as the Ravens' third running back. He will compete with Chester Taylor for playing time. While Smith has a similar style to Lewis, Taylor is a back who relies more on his quickness.

2003

Smith will be battling for backup honors to Jamal Lewis. If he wins the backup job, then he will have some fantasy worth, especially if you have Lewis on your roster.
