RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks
There was no outlook written for Danny Clark.
The veteran Clark signed with the Saints midway through the 2010 season and eventually earned a starting spot at outside linebacker, overtaking Jo-Lonn Dunbar. Clark will look to win the starting spot again in training cap but faces still competition in a crowded camp. Even if he wins the spot, he holds only below-average value, even in IDP leagues.
Clark will be part of the solution early in the season, filling in for the suspended Brian Cushing. Beyond that, he'll need injuries to see more snaps.
Clark returns as the team's strong side linebacker, absorbing blockers so that other players can rack up tackles and make plays.
Reserve weak side linebacker.
Clark will compete for backup duty at one outside backer spot and middle linebacker, with the Texans returning starters at each position.
Clark will compete for playing time at inside linebacker with the Saints, and he could earn a starting job early in the season if he impresses head coach Sean Payton.
Clark finished with 129 tackles in 2004 and was one of the lone bright spots for the dismal Oakland defense. You can realistically expect him to continue to be a force for the individual defensive player leagues.
Clark will open the season behind Napolean Harris at inside linebacker. He'll see plenty of playing time on special teams but will need an injury to a starter to be an every down starter on defense.
