RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks
There was no outlook written for Marcus Tubbs.
If healthy, Tubbs will provide depth to Seattle's defensive tackle position and help the run defense.
Tubbs was injured for most of 2006, and the Seahawks missed him greatly. Tubbs is the team's primary run-stuffer and if he isn't healthy this year Seattle's defense will be in trouble.
Tubbs provided good depth along the defensive line for the Seahawks last season, developing into a quality run-stuffer and registering 5.5 sacks. He'll resume the same role this season.
Tubbs was a rookie bust at tackle last season. Off-field problems contributed to his disappointing year. He showed up to camp out of shape and dealt with injuries throughout the season. Later in the year his mother passed away. This season, he enters camp with renewed energy and is slated as the starting right defensive tackle. Tubbs also can rely on veteran Chuck Darby, signed from Tampa Bay, for leadership on the defensive line, which must be tougher against the run this season if the Seahawks are to contend.
Much is expected from Seattle's first-round pick -- and right away. Tubbs will challenge for a starting job and will start at some point in the season. At defensive tackle, though, his IDP value is limited. The Seahawks envision him as their primary run-stopper for years to come.
