Laboy was brought in as a free agent from San Francisco to help shore up the outside linebacker spot opposite Shaun Phillips. He and Larry English figure to get the majority of the snaps at that position this season.
LaBoy missed the 2009 season after ankle surgery and is also recovering from a biceps injury, but he is expected to be healthy heading into 2010 training camp. He won't be a candidate to start at outside linebacker, but should make the roster as a special teams or situational pass-rush player.
LaBoy will battle for a starting defensive end role this season in Arizona after four seasons as a part-time player in Tennessee. LaBoy made six sacks as a pass-rush specialist last season and could reach double digits if he earns a starting role in 2008. He totaled 19.5 sacks the past four seasons in 54 games (20 starts). Playing time is his biggest question, so make sure LaBoy secures a starting position this summer. His small stature for a defensive end (6-3, 253) could be a good fit in Arizona's hybrid 4-3/3-4 scheme that emphasizes quickness.
Laboy is expected to be the starting right defensive end for the Titans. Laboy started 11 games last season and had 57 tackles, 3.5 sacks, and 12 quarterback pressures. Laboy will need to increase his pass rushing presence, as the Titans had only 26 sacks as a team last season.
LaBoy will start at right end for the Titans defense in 2006.
LaBoy will compete with newly acquired Kyle Vanden Bosch and Bo Schobel for the starting spots at defensive end.
LaBoy has impressive pass-rushing ability, but likely won't get many chances to demonstrate his skills during his rookie season as a backup defensive end.
