Wharton is expected to announce his retirement from the NFL on Tuesday, the Charlotte Observer reports.

ANALYSIS
Wharton was drafted by the Panthers in the third round of the 2004 draft and spent all but one of his 10 seasons in Carolina. The offensive lineman started 12 games at left guard last season and will now join longtime teammate Jordan Gross in retirement.
