Minnesota has a number of talented running backs, so Fason will find himself struggling just to make the Vikings' roster.
Fason began to establish himself as the goal-line back (four touchdowns inside the three-yard line) late last season. Big straight-ahead runners have had success in new head coach Brad Childress’ offenses in Philadelphia (Correll Buckhalter had 8 rushing TDs in 2003, for example), so he could win a sizable role. He'll start the season No. 3 on the depth chart at RB.
Fason will be the fourth-string running back and could return kickoffs. The Vikings are high on his talent so he could find playing time if injuries strike.
