RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks
There was no outlook written for Stanford Routt.
With six interceptions over the past two seasons, Routt does offer some upside as an IDP if he can improve on his career-best 55 total tackles. However, with Derrick Johnson and Eric Berry leading the way, there may not be enough tackles to go around for Routt to make the leap.
Routt will be a reserve cornerback for the Raiders.
Routt will battle Justin Miller to be the Raiders' nickle back. If he loses out to Miller, Routt will likely be no worse than the team's dime back.
Routt will be the Raiders' nickel back this season. He should see a lot of balls thrown his way in three-corner defensive sets, as teams will be wary of throwing at either Nnamdi Asomugha or DeAngelo Hall, and could improve on the three interceptions he picked up last season.
An exciting young corner, Routt will compete with veteran Tyrone Poole for nickleback duties in 2006. With enough reps, Routt could become a difference maker in the Oakland secondary. That said, he appears to be a few years away from being a factor in fantasy.
Routt has enjoyed a solid training camp and has been working in the team's nickel and dime packages. He could also compete for time as a returner.
