Palmer strained a pectoral muscle during OTAs and could see limited reps through the rest of minicamp, ESPN Chicago reports.

Exclusive Fantasy Analysis (FREE PREVIEW)

While Palmer will still probably enter training camp as the favorite to claim the No. 2 quarterback job behind Jay Cutler, his injury has opened the door for rookie David Fales and the newly-signed Jimmy Clausen to make an impression in the early going. Palmer still has plenty of time to recover from the injury before training camp kicks off, but the competition for the backup job certainly looks more interesting that it did as recently as a month ago.
Coach Marc Trestman indicated Sunday that the Bears' No. 2 quarterback job is Palmer's to lose, ESPNChicago.com's Jeff Dickerson reports.

Exclusive Fantasy Analysis (FREE PREVIEW)

Though the Bears spent a sixth-round draft choice on San Jose State's David Fales, he's viewed as more of a developmental prospect at this point, putting Palmer on the inside track for top backup duties behind Jay Cutler. Palmer hasn't seen a regular season snap since the 2010 campaign, but his familiarity with Trestman's offense will give him an advantage over Fales and Jerrod Johnson in training camp.

2014

Subscribe now to see our 2014 outlook.

2013

Released by the Bears in August of 2013.

2012

Palmer is a camp arm at this point, but if the Jags do keep three quarterbacks on the roster (certainly not a given, considering the organization's history), he's the likely favorite to win the role.

2011

Palmer begins the 2011 season much like last season, as the No. 3 quarterback in Cincinnati. However, this time he is behind Bruce Gradkowski and Andy Dalton instead of his brother, Carson Palmer. Regardless of who is in front of him, Palmer likely won't see the field much, if at all, in 2011.

2010

Third string quarterback behind his brother Carson Palmer and J.T. O'Sullivan.

2009

Third string quarterback.

2008

Palmer will fight Jeff Rowe for the No. 3 quarterback spot. The fact that he is Carson Palmer's brother can't hurt his chances to make the roster.

2007

Brother of Carson Palmer. He has a strong arm but is not consistent and accurate enough. He will compete for the third quarterback spot.
