RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks
There was no outlook written for Quincy Black.
Black, who had only 59 tackles (48 solo), one forced fumble and one interception in 14 games played in 2011, is in possible danger of losing his starting outside LB spot in 2012, although Geno Hayes moving on may keep Black as a starting OLB for at least one more year. Black is not one of the flashier OLB's out there so look elsewhere in IDP leagues.
Black has some IDP utility since he seems locked into a starting spot on the outside of Tampaís defense, but he doesnít have the look of a player who can offer much in the process. He has just 145 tackles (123 solo) in his last 27 games, which averages to about 5.4 tackles per game, or about 85 over a 16-game season. If those modest numbers are something you can use, then Black isnít a bad target. If you need someone to make a play, however, you should look elsewhere.
Black had a fairly productive first year as a starter in 2009 with 84 tackles, 1.5 sacks and one interception. He should start once again in 2010 and may improve on those numbers slightly now that the team has switched back to the Tampa-2 defense full-time.
Black, a promising third-year player, technically sits atop the Buccaneers' depth chart at strong-side LB entering the 2009 campaign, but may loose that status with the free-agent signing of Angelo Crowell. However if Crowell cannot regain his form of two years ago or misses significant time, Black could project as a decent source of points in IDP leagues.
Reserve linebacker. 18 solo tackles, 6 assists in 2007.
He'll back up Barrett Ruud at middle linebacker for the Bucs, and may get playing time if Ruud can't fill Shelton Quarles' shoes.
