Irons is by no means guaranteed to stay on the Falcons roster this year, and he definitely won't do much more than special teams work unless a blizzard of injuries hits the Atlanta secondary.
Irons is a long shot to take over the left cornerback spot in 2008, and will likely back up Chris Houston on the right side.
Irons will add depth in the secondary and compete for a job on the special teams unit, while his long-term upside may be as a nickelback with DeAngelo Hall and Chris Houston penciled in as the Falcons' starters at the two corner spots.
