Will Franklin

We selected Franklin as the team’s supersleeper in our Chiefs team preview for two reasons. First, coach Herm Edwards has never been shy to play rookies, so Franklin’s lack of tenure shouldn’t hurt him. Second, the Chiefs depth chart at receiver is wide open, with Franklin, Jeff Webb and Devard Darling all competing for a starting spot opposite Dwayne Bowe. Franklin’s speed and elusiveness should endear him to a team that lacked offensive explosiveness in 2007. Rookie receivers are always a low-percentage play and Franklin probably won’t see many opportunities, but he has enough upside to be worth a look if you’re throwing darts at high-upside plays at the end of your draft.
