The Cards signed Iwebema to a one-year deal Monday, Darren Urban of the team's official site reports.

ANALYSIS
Iwebema ended 2010 on injured reserve after suffering a torn ACL in November. He'll provide depth along the defensive line should he make the final roster.

Iwebema had a couple of sacks in very limited work for the Cards last season. It's unlikely that he'll play his way into a starting role, but he could stick around as a pass-rushing specialist for occasional work as a situational end.

Iwebema has a chance to unseat Calais Campbell for a starting defensive end role this season, however, his hopes took a big hit when a benign baseball-sized tumor was discovered in his chest in May. Fortunately, surgery corrected the problem, but it sidelined Iwebema for all of the Cardinals’ OTAs. He should be ready in time for training camp and he will probably serve as a run-stopper off the bench in 2009.

Iwebema is a long-term project and will be a backup if he makes the team in 2008.
