RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks
Dunbar followed a fantastic 2012 season in which he tallied 115 tackles and 4 1/2 sacks by being suspended for the first four games of 2013. He never fully recovered, and his 39 tackles were vastly overshadowed by fellow linebackers Alec Ogletree and James Laurinaitis. However, if he can stay out of trouble off the field and have a solid training camp, Dunbar can contribute to a front seven that's among the best in the NFL.
Dunbar, who recorded 113 tackles (89 solo) and 4.5 sacks last season, is expected to start at outside linebacker for the Rams in 2013.
Dunbar is expected to start at left outside linebacker although he'll be pushed by fellow free agent signee Mario Haggan.
Dunbar will compete for the starting outside linebacker position vacated by Scott Fujita. He is the leading candidate to win the job, but faces tough competition in Jonathan Casillas. The winner of the starting gig has the opportunity to post decent numbers given defensive coordinator Gregg Williams' attacking schemes.
